About us

I truly believe that in every phase of parenting, as your child grows, there is something totally awesome…and something that totally stinks.  Think about it.  Even from the very beginning, there’s nothing more awesome than holding that new born baby.  However, they cry, and they fuss.  And let’s not forget the dirty diapers.  As parents we don’t think twice about it.  There’s no doubt it’s worth it, but there is a downside.

When he left home it was no different.  I couldn’t have been prouder of my son as he headed off to college.  I can’t wait to see what he does when he heads out into the world.  But a miss him…A LOT.

The journey leading up to him leaving home was a busy time with a lot of different emotions.  My wife and I ran ragged getting ready for the graduation party, lining up senior pictures, figuring out the finances to pay for his school, gathering everything needed for his dorm, and countless other tasks.  I’d like to think we got a lot right, but it was far from perfect.

My hope for our readers is that we can provide you help on this journey.  Whether your child is a freshman in High school, ready to leave, or already gone, we hope you get something from this site.  We’re going to share what we got right, as well as, what we learned along the way, from the perspective of a Mom, a Dad, a sibling, and even the family dog.

Thanks for joining us!

self proclaimed un-official emotional support dog

I was just a puppy when my brother was a senior in High School.  He has em-barked on this journey called “College”, but I’ve had some adventures myself.
